Alon Tal, Sc.D., Health Professions Breakfast, 12/4/16

Alon Tal, Sc.D., is an environmental leader, researcher, and social entrepreneur whose research focuses on environmental health, water quality, and demographic policy. His newest book, The Land Is Full: Addressing Overpopulation in Israel, was published in August by Yale University Press.

Dr. Tal was the founding director of the Israel Union for Environmental Defense, where he initiated dozens of legal actions against polluters and against the government for inadequate commitment to the environment. He also founded the Arava Institute for Environmental Studies, one of the Middle East’s leading environmental studies and research programs for students from Israel, Jordan, Palestine, and around the world. Dr. Tal also has served as chair of Israel’s Green Party.

A professor at Ben Gurion University of the Negev, Dr. Tal holds master’s and doctoral degrees from Harvard University School of Public Health.
